CLIENT SITUATION
Inframark assumed operation and management of the Johnstown Redevelopment Authority’s (JRA) 12 million gallons per day (MGD) Dornick Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in 2014. The WWTP utilizes pure oxygen activated sludge. The agreement was amended in 2019 (along with a five-year renewal) to include sludge management and disposal as well as an industrial pretreatment program (IPP) administration.
INFRAMARK SOLUTION
Inframark provided the JRA with a fixed-fee contract for five years for the operation of the facility, including hiring all existing union staff, developing training programs, and establishing all operational and maintenance procedures. Shortly after project startup, Inframark determined that the facility’s biosolids dewatering and disposal practices needed to be updated and that the replacement of antiquated sludge dewatering equipment would result in a reduction in operating costs. Inframark provided technical review throughout the design, construction, and commissioning process of new sludge dewatering, polymer system, and lime stabilization equipment. The belt presses originally installed were retained for backup use.
INFRAMARK RESULTS
Based on their years of service, professionalism, and knowledge, it was a good decision to renew the contract with Inframark and continue moving forward in a positive direction. The authority is very satisfied with the cleanliness of the plant and has a great working relationship with the “Inframark” team. JRA is looking forward to the next five years.
