The Critical Illness and Accident insurance voluntary benefits gives you more ways to help care for and protect yourself and your covered dependents. These benefits are offered through Aetna. You will pay 100% of the benefit cost should you elect in either coverage, or both.

Critical Illness Insurance

Critical illnesses can happen at any age and more often than you may think. Critical Illness Insurance with Aetna can help safeguard your finances by providing you with a lump-sum payment between $5,000 and $30,000 in the event of an unexpected serious illness such as a heart attack, stroke or cancer. The payment you receive is yours to spend as you see fit and in addition to any other insurance you may have. 

How it works:

  • Pays a lump-sum cash benefit for the diagnosis of a covered serious illness.
  • Benefit paid depends on diagnosed condition – full or partial face value.
  • Employees have a choice of four plan options with a maximum benefit of $5k, $10k, $20k, or $30k per diagnosis. 
  • Benefits for dependents are based on 50% of employee’s benefits.
  • Additionally, when you take care of yourself by getting a covered health screening. You will receive a $100 health screening benefit! (Health screening benefits are per covered member, per year, per plan).
